The Jets revealed their new uniform redesign on Thursday at a black-tie event emceed by comedian J.B. Smoove at Gotham Hall in New York City, and it's a pretty big departure for a franchise that hasn't had too many drastic uniform changes through the years.
The new Jets uniforms resemble those of the Michigan State Spartans and they haven't exactly wowed anyone yet.
Bell already expressed his excitement to play in green and white again so surely the uniform change got his approval even though his former teammate unleashed brutal honesty toward them.
Also, here's the new logo. The numbers also have been updated with a new font that uses sloped angle, meant to evoke motion and force, according to Nike.
Across the front of each jersey is "NEW YORK", the Jets join the Cleveland Browns (at least for one season) to have their city name across the front of their uniform. That said, I like them and consider them a drastic improvement over the current designs.
And here's what the new white uniform looks like. "No one wins games [because of] new uniforms. This is done at a moment when the Jets are changing course in a good way". So they changed to a hunter green jersey, with a white helmet that includes two parallel green lines down the middle and a modified version of the 1965-1977 logo.
What does NY grit look like? While paying homage to the franchise's rich history, this campaign is about looking forward to the future.
The Jets are making the change from hunter green to Gotham green.
