A 29-year-old Los Angeles man accused of killing Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle was formally charged with murder and attempted murder on Thursday, prosecutors said.

Eric Ronald Holder, 29, entered his pleas to murder and attempted murder charges through his attorney during a brief hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Holder is being held on U.S. $7 million bail, and is expected to make his first court appearance on Thursday afternoon.

Interestingly, Holder's lawyer is Chris Darden.

It's been a few days since news emerged that the legendary rapper Nipsey Hussle was murdered in Los Angeles outside of his Marathon Store. Two other people were wounded in the gunfire, according to police.

During the court proceedings, Holder agreed to delay his next court proceeding until May 10.Holder is set to face life in prison and his bail is set at $5 million.

In 2012 he pleaded no contest to possession of a loaded firearm and was sentenced to six months in jail and three years' probation. Investigators say the slaying was motivated by a personal dispute between the two men.

Hussle's long-time girlfriend, actress Lauren London, with whom he has a two-year-old son Kross, broke her silence on Tuesday in a message on Instagram that included several photos.

Nipsey Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Asghedom, was shot multiple times outside a clothing shop he owned in LA last Sunday.

Yesterday, the L.A. Times published an interview with Samiel "Blacc Sam" Asghedom, Nipsey's brother.

Los Angeles Police Chief Michael Moore said at one point the suspect left before coming back with a gun and opening fire.
