Liddell hadn't fought since 2010 when he was knocked out cold by Rich Franklin in the first round at UFC 115. Thank you, you pushed me hard, man. After the fight, he addressed the matter again. I appreciate you. You are a real champ..
Ortis pressured Liddell from the first bell and while "The Iceman" was able to fire off a few shots towards his opponent, none of them came with the same level of heat that he so often delivered in his prime. I started getting comfortable in here and I got caught. I made a mistake and it is what it is.
Ortiz had said prior to this card that his trilogy with Liddell would be the last time he stepped inside the cage. I wish I had performed better tonight for all the incredible people who came to support me.
Woooooo! I want to shout out to my son Jacob who I talked to on the phone to my son Jesse, Jr. too I want you to know that dad loves you! I have no excuses. Former UFC light heavyweight champion and UFC Hall of Famer left UFC back in 2012 but went on to fight under the Bellator banner, won three of his four fights in that promotion.
As for Liddell, it was hard enough seeing him compete on Saturday night and it would be even tougher to imagine a scenario where he fights again following the loss to Ortiz in their third and seemingly final confrontation. Maybe not as a main event, of course.
