Superstar Rajinikanth's "2.0" is all set to hit the screens on November 29 and advance ticket bookings have already started.
The Cellular Operators Association of India has sent a complaint against actor Rajinikanth's film 2.0 to the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Central Board of Film Certification, for "falsely depicting mobile phones as harmful to the environment", reports said on Tuesday. While the film obviously has its own fan-base in Tamil Nadu, especially after the massive success of its prequel Enthiran in 2010, in 2018 the sequel has seen a phenomenal opening in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The film will have a four day opening weekend, and the collections for the Hindi version is yet to be announced.
Producer Dil Raju, who has secured the distribution rights of the movie for the Telangana region, was also present. According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the Shankar film will be screened in around 10,500 screens worldwide, with 7,000 in India. For the longest time, Rajinikanth's releases have been celebrated nearly akin to a festival in India. And 2.0 has also crushed the record of Vijay and Keerthy Suresh starrer Sarkar which has earned Rs 70 Cr on its first day.
While Enthiran in 2010 managed to capture the same number of theatres in combined Andhra, the tax for dubbing films into Telugu was nearly double at that time.
Yes, it was being anticipated that over Rs. 25 crore may come in on Thursday since the film has released in Hindi at over 4000 screens.
Produced by Lyca, the film has music composed by AR Rahman and sound engineered by Resul Pookutty.
